Setup Syndication between the Authoring and Staging servers - WPS

Create a syndication relationship between the authoring and staging servers. This is a one-way relationship from the authoring server(the syndicator) and the staging server (the subscriber):

  1. Log in to your authoring server.
  2. Go to Administration > Portal Content > Syndicators .
  3. Open the syndicator view.
  4. Click Create new syndicator .
  5. Specify a name for the syndicator in the Name field.
  6. Enter additional information about the syndicator in the Description field. The Syndicator ID and SyndicatorURL information is automatically generated, and you cannot change the values for these fields.
  7. Using a different browser window, log in to the Staging server .
  8. Go to Administration > Portal Content > Subscribers .
  9. Open the subscriber view.
  10. Click Create new subscriber .
  11. Specify a name for the subscriber in the Name field.
  12. Enter additional information about the subscriber in the Description field. The Subscriber ID and SubscriberURL information is automatically generated, and you cannot change the values for these fields.
  13. Copy the subscriber's name, ID, and URL to the syndicator window.
  14. Copy the syndicator's name, ID, and URL to the subscriber window.
  15. On the syndicator window click Add libraries .
    1. Select the Web content library you are using for this site.
    2. Click OK .
  16. Save the new syndicator or subscriber by clicking OK .
    Important: If you are creating the subscriber at the same time as the syndicator, you must save the syndicator before you save the subscriber.
  17. To syndicate the Web site to the staging server, Bill manually syndicates the latest changes to the delivery server:
    1. He logs onto the authoring server
    2. He goes to Administration > Portal Content > Syndicators
    3. He opens the existing syndicator and clicks Rebuild.

  9. Open the subscriber view.
  10. Click Create new subscriber .
  11. Specify a name for the subscriber in the Name field.
  12. Enter additional information about the subscriber in the Description field. The Subscriber ID and Subscriber URL information is automatically generated, and you cannot change the values for these fields.
  13. Copy the subscriber's name, ID, and URL to the syndicator window.
  14. Copy the syndicator's name, ID, and URL to the subscriber window.
  15. On the syndicator window click Add libraries .
    1. Select the Web content library you are using for this site.
    2. Click OK .
  16. Save the new syndicator or subscriber by clicking OK .
  17. Important: If you are creating the subscriber at the same time as the syndicator, you must save the syndicator before you save the subscriber.
  18. To syndicate the Web site to the delivery server, Bill manually syndicates the latest changes to the delivery server:
    1. He logs onto the authoring server
    2. He goes to Administration > Portal Content > Syndicators
    3. He opens the existing syndicator and clicks Rebuild
  19. Misha checks that the Web site is working by opening opening the HTML of the home page created when the web site is pre-rendered.
